CORA Services is looking for a Full Time Lead Teacher at our La Salle location. The Lead Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical developmental needs in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Lead Teacher for Pre-K Counts (PKC) has record-keeping and reporting responsibilities as required by the PKC program.
· Uphold the mission, vision, and values of CORA Services, which includes valuing all individuals, supporting the individual’s potential for growth, and enhancing a programmatic service system approach.
· Coordinate and implement educational lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, in conjunction with the assigned OCDEL-approved curriculum.
· Plan individual and group activities to actively engage children and encourage cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
· Develop schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime.
· Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
· Guide Assistant Teacher(s) and classroom volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities and standards. Encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
· Monitor growth and development of children based on established learning objectives using age-appropriate assessment tools.
· In consultation with Center Director, make appropriate referrals for children needing additional services.
· Establish positive relationships with parents and maintain frequent communication about student’s growth and progress through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
· Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
· Maintain individual student records indicating strengths and weaknesses in developmental areas; meet record-keeping and reporting requirements of PKC.
· Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement including mandatory trainings and any continuing education requirement prescribed by individual degree and program specifications.
o Instructional I Certificate holders: Complete Induction Plan to earn Instructional II Certificate.
· Participate collaboratively and professionally with other teachers and staff to promote the general well-being of the Early Years program.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field of study with a minimum of 30 credits in ECE.
· Early Childhood Education Instructional I or II Certificate.
· Minimum of two years of documented experience working in a classroom setting with an early childhood population.
· Passion and skill for working with children.
· Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, colleagues, and families.
· Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
· Solid organizational, leadership and problem solving skills.
· A strong understanding of child development.
· Familiarity with Keystone STARS standards and DHS regulations; experience with Pre-K Counts a plus.
· Infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification.
