2018 CORA Seussville Middle School Essay Contest
The CORA Middle School Essay Contest was established to showcase a student who exhibits excellent creative writing skills. CORA Services will award the winning student with a $100 monetary award.
Eligibility: To be considered for CORA’s Dr. Seuss Essay Contest, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a middle school student (grades 5–8)
- Must submit one original writing sample from the options below with submission form. Download here.
- Must obtain a parent or guardian’s signature approving CORA to utilize the student’s name and photo on CORA’s website and social media sites promoting Seussville
- CORA’s Dr. Seuss Essay Contest winner will be announced on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at CORA’s Conference Center
Option 1 – Using the following, write a 500 word essay relating the quote “Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” to an experience from your own life.
Option 2 – Horton was determined to save Whoville. Write a 500 word essay about a time when you were very determined to do something.
Option 3 – Write a 20 – 25 line poem about yourself using the Dr. Seuss rhythm and rhyme.
Submissions for the CORA Dr. Seuss Art Contest must be submitted no later than Monday, February 12th, 2018. Please mail hard copies to Rachel McGonigle , CORA Services, 8540 Verree Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111, or upload your submission below.
The essay committee will include a member of the CORA Services administrative team, a representative of the CORA School Services Division, a representative of the CORA Community Services or Clinical Services Division, and a member of CORA’s Board of Directors.
