Gilbert Spruance Elementary School YouthCOR
Students are able to learn and grow through programming designed to strengthen academic and social-emotional skills in a safe, nurturing and fun environment. Our aim is to prepare students for success in school and beyond. Our curriculum reinforces classroom instruction in new and creative ways, while at the same time providing opportunities for students to expand their horizons and tap into their interests.

Afterschool

Funded in full or in part with a grant by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
Monday-Friday 3:00 pm-6:00 pm during the school year
For Grades K – 8th
A partnership with Settlement Music School and Top Hat Dance Studio will incorporate dance, chorus, drum circle, drama, and visual arts into the afterschool programming. Monthly family engagement activities will be held to highlight student achievement and encourage parent participation through Family Reading Nights, Family STEM nights, Family Art Shows and seasonal activities.
Elementary
The emphasis will include literacy and the arts.
Middle School
This cohort will concentrate on STEAM programming.
- Science, Technology Engineering, Arts, and Math will be included in programming through thematic, project-based activities in partnership with the Franklin Institute.
- Clubs include fashion design, theater, dance, photography, digital arts, music production, and culinary arts.
Summer Camp 2019
Through a grant with 21st Century Community Learning Center, CORA’s YouthCOR offers a FREE Six Week Summer Camp Program at Spruance’s Elementary School.
Dates: July 1, 2019 – August 9, 2019 (camp closed on July 4th and July 5th)
