This workshop will provide a basic understanding of human trafficking and how to identify victims through screening. It will also provide an understanding of how to work with victims once identified and how to advocate for victims.

Presented by: 

Hugh Organ, M.S., is the Associate Executive Director of Covenant House Pennsylvania.  He oversees the day-to-day operations for a Street Outreach Program, York Drop-in Center, 76-bed Crisis Shelter and20 bed transitional living program.  Mr. Organ has spent the last 18 years working with runaway, homeless and trafficked youth at Covenant House Pennsylvania.  He is a founding member and the Chair of Philadelphia Anti Trafficking Coalition and serves as the Chair for Pa Anti Human Trafficking Advocacy Group. Mr. Organ has served on numerous task forces and committees on human trafficking.  His commitment to domestic human trafficking most recently led to Covenant House Pennsylvania receiving the FBI Director’s Award for Community Leadership.

Objectives: As a result of this interactive workshop, participants will be able to:

• Participants will learn how to identify signs of human trafficking
• Participants will learn common patterns of human trafficking within their communities
• Participants will learn how to use common screening tools
• Participants will learn specific ways to advocate for victims

Intended Audience:

This program will benefit Psychologists, Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Educators, Principals, Teachers, Graduate Students, and other practitioners within mental health and education who provide direct services and/or parent/teacher consultation for this population.
