Truancy Services
Truancy is often an indicator of other challenges in a student’s family or community and can lead to academic failure, delinquency, substance use, and other risk behaviors. Truancy Prevention and Intervention Initiative (TPII) is a city-wide initiative between the School District of Philadelphia, Family Court, DHS, and partner agencies like CORA Services. TPII is designed to target truancy with early assessment and intervention so that each student can successfully participate in school and prepare for the future. CORA’s professional case managers are trained to work with students and families to address these challenges and remove barriers to their success.

Eligibility
Students in grades K-10 and/or ages 8-16 in contracted Philadelphia public and charter schools who meet the truancy threshold of 10 or more unexcused absences.
Access Service
Parent/Guardian:
- A school administrator will refer a student meeting the truancy threshold to the family court system and a referral will be made to the assigned truancy services provider. Check if CORA is your school’s current provider.
- If you are concerned about your child’s attendance but he/she has not yet had 10 unexcused absences, contact your child’s school counselor. A referral may be made for truancy prevention services.
