CORA Services offers a well-structured and strongly mentored clinical fellowship experience, with the intention of providing not only a positive start to your professional practice but a worthwhile and rewarding career in school-based speech and language services.

CORA is an organization that has always prided themselves with the opportunity to provide excellent supervision and guidance to all employees. As a new graduate and a Clinical Fellow (CF), CORA is able to provide well rounded, professional support while adhering to ASHA’s guidelines for obtaining the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC’s).

 

CORA Clinical Fellows have the opportunity to work in one of three diverse populations:

  • Non-Public schools in Philadelphia,
  • Early Intervention (CORA is a related service provider for Elwyn)
  • Charter schools throughout the city of Philadelphia and Camden.

Mentorship includes

  • Monthly calendars are provided with days/times for direct observation time. 

  • Supervision is wide ranged with varied indirect and direct observations

  • Clinical Fellow workshops for indirect support

  • Inclusion in staff meetings and professional developments

Eligibility

All academic coursework and supervised clinical practicum must be completed, as outlined in the ASHA SLP Certification Standards, including

  • all prerequisite coursework (Standard IV-A), core coursework (Standard IV-C),
  • supervised clinical practicum (Standard V).
  • Professional experiences prior to the completion of all academic coursework and practicum may not be used or applied toward your CF experience. 

All Childhood and Child Abuse clearances are required to be updated as of September of the fellowship start date. 

Time Line:
  • Interviews start in mid- March for the upcoming school year.
  • All candidates who are offered positions with CORA will know their school placement and who will be their mentor for their Clinical Fellow experience with their job offer.
  • During the month of August, fellows will participate in CORA’s annual professional developments and orientation days.
  • September, clinical fellows will report to assigned schools.

  • A CORA Clinical Fellow will fulfill a minimum of 1,260 hours and 36 weeks per the ASHA requirements.

  • The CF experience is divided into three equal segments, and each segment represents one-third of the total experience or 420 hours per segment.

  • A fulltime CORA clinical fellow is considered 35 hours per week for 36 weeks, for a total of 1,260 hours.

  • A part-time CORA clinical fellow must be a minimum of 5 hours per week in order to be counted toward the total 1,260 hours.

  • Clinical Fellowships conclude in May or June depending on each individual caseload.
