THE MORE YOUR READ, THE MORE YOU KNOW

CORA's 2nd Annual Seussville Art and Writing Contest
January 3, 2019

You have BRAINS in your HEAD and FEET in your SHOES. You can STEER yourself in any direction you CHOOSE!

CORA Services is proud of the thousands of students we serve each year and appreciates the thousands of parents, teachers and school leaders that support their success, in and out of the classroom. Last March CORA hosted a fun-filled day of activities to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and transformed the conference center into Seussville. Filled with balloons, games, activities and even friendly Seuss characters, families were quite impressed as they walked through CORA’s doors on that snowy day and entered our literacy wonderland designed for children ages 0-7.

To exhibit the creative work of  CORA’s students, as well as the positive and transformative impact of CORA’s staff in local schools, CORA hosted an Elementary School Art Contest and a Middle School Writing Contest. On March 2, 2019, CORA will host another family-friendly Seussville extravaganza at 8540 Verree Road, Philadelphia, PA 19111 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Seussville at CORA will be colorful, inviting and informative for parents with young children and even educators interested in early childhood education.

Children in grades 1-8, are encouraged to participate in the art or writing contest. Younger children are asked to submit artwork depicting a Dr. Seuss scene, and middle school students are asked to compose a 25 line poem in the rhyming style of Dr. Seuss.

The event is aimed at promoting awareness and enthusiasm around the importance of early literacy. Seussville at CORA will include interactive readings, literacy activities, arts and crafts, games and prizes, and photos with Dr. Seuss characters.
