One Mother's Love and Gratitude for CORA

Pat was a single mother in the 1980’s with two young children. One of the youngest of her own family, she found herself without many peer resources to help her navigate parenthood. She found the personal strength to trust her instincts and did what every parent does – her best.

As her daughter entered her preteen years, Pat noticed some behavioral changes which caused her concern. A resident of the Fox Chase neighborhood, Pat was familiar with CORA Services and reached out for support. Upon entering the building, Pat and her daughter were greeted with a warm welcome from caring counselors. Her daughter received a few individual sessions that made a positive impact on her attitude.

Shortly after their initial interaction, Pat again reached out to CORA for help, this time related to her son’s behavior within his peer group. Once again, CORA counselors provided counseling services and validated her intuition as a parent.

Thirty years later, Pat’s children are grown and successful with families of their own. When she reflects back on the rough patches of parenting, she remains grateful to CORA for the support her family received. Through these prevention services, she was confident that her children would stay on the right path.

Still today, children remain at the heart of the matter at CORA. We are grateful to Pat for remembering the impact CORA had on her family all those years ago and for sharing her story.
